any suggestions on how to correct vinyl siding that contracts in winter and shows spacing of wood underneath.?

in colder weather notice a space of about 1/4″ between some of the slats – where you can see wood underneath. seems to close up in warmer weather. what can be done to alleviate this opening to protect the wood underneath? don’t want to remove siding if not needed.
