Should I use a J-Channel or starter strip of vinyl siding for a shed sitting on a cement pad?

I had someone tell me to use a J-channel, but I am not sure. The shed sits on a cement pad so the J channel would nearly be right on the cement. I am concerned about rain falling in the j-channel and not being able to get out. Thanks!

How do I apply starter strip for vinyl siding?

I am trying to keep it straight around windows, doors and a garage door, on one side of the building. I keep coming up short on the far side of the garage door.

In this neighborhood we always get mold, green buildup, on the North side of the houses. I saw on an episode of This Old House they placed a metal strip on a roof to prevent moss buildup. Would this work on vinyl siding?
