What is the best way to anchor something (eg: clothesline) to the exterior of your vinyl siding house?

I guess I find a stud on the inside and drill through and weatherproof ?

How can I tape something on to vinyl siding and expect it to stay?

We have made our porch into a room. Leaving the vinyl siding (for now) on the wall. I want to hang a big poster on it to cover the siding. What will stick. It is not a framed poster. I just want to tape it on (so to speak).
