After years of weather, the wood on my house has started to er road and come apart. There are big holes in the side of my house and i know if it keep up there will be mold, if there isn’t already. Simply after years of hard rain the exterior of my house looks like old paint crusting off, but it isn’t paint its wood. I would like to know if my insurance will pay for new siding. Also after years of hard rain the soil around the foundation is eroding will foundation wall be covered by home owners insurance. Thanks. Home owner.
It’d be best to discuss this with your insurance guy, but I think usually insurance will only pay for it if there is something, besides normal wear and tear that has caused the damage, i.e., hail or an out-of-control car.
I believe what your house needs is routine maintenance. Insurance won’t pay for that just like your car insurance won’t pay for an oil change.
Sorry but what your describing is what would be considered to be routine maintenance. Therefore not covered under insurance.
You must have had some idea that you were going to have to keep up with doing some preventative maintenance on the home when you became the home owner. Didn’t you?
If not I am surprised that you did not realize that as a home own it was up to you to scrape the old paint off and keep a protective coating on the wood to prevent what has happened from happening.
If it had been cause by the severe damage from one storm then some of it might have been covered. Even that can sometimes not be covered due to something they call an Act Of God. Therefore not covered then either.
Sorry, but it is all a part of being a home owner. And you will have to pay for it and either do the work yourself or pay someone to do it for you before it gets any worse.
