The siding is kiln dried so it doesn’t crack or shrink, so caulking is minimal, especially comaperd to a full log home. Theres is nothing special that needs to be done to the windows. You have conventional building methods like: electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work as well as insulation. You don’t have to worry about the home cracking, or settling like a full log home. You have the beauty of a full log home without the hassels of building or maintaining a full log home.
While log siding is a good upgrade there are serious considerations. Window & door jams [if not entire windows] will need replacing. Upgrades to your structure may be needed. Installation is not a casual weekend project! All but 2 U.S. companies make siding that will not shrinke and require extensive caulking. Siding has a tendency to crack. Done right, it can be nice. When building new, it’s smarter to do full log. Bob
