Music: Diggin’ Up Dirt, (An unfinished ditty by greanteawoman) Copyright 2010 All Rights Reserved James Harold Jennings was an internationally known North Carolina based, self-taught, visionary artist, (sometimes called Outsider Artist), who lived all of his 69 years in the Foothills of North Carolina in the tiny town of Pinnacle – near King and Winston Salem, NC. His art work is prominently featured in museums and collected by ‘Raw Vision’ type art enthusiasts all over the world. He is also featured in The House of Blues Collections of Southeastern Contemporary Art. Known as ‘Harold’ or ‘Red’, to his friends and family, I was told that he was very eccentric and reclusive as a child. Harold was homeschooled by his mother and lived with her in a very nice home until she passed away in 1974. Harold remained eccentric and reclusive until the day he died. Harold told me that his favorite books were the encyclopedia and the unabridged dictionary and he adored the National Geographic magazine. He told me that he never changed his clock when the time changed – always preferring to live on – “Eastern Standard Time, Eastern Standard Time, Eastern Standard Time”.
