What is the best insulation to put under James Hardie fiber cement siding?

You are going to need a rigid board type fibre with a backer that acts as a vapor barrier. The seams must be taped and then you will need to install strapping (1″x3″ 12 to 16 inches on center) vertical strips of wood over the insulation to have a place to nail or screw your siding
