Cutting notches in the posts, and installing the 2×12 Rims. Kind of like post and beam, more like a modified post and beam. This is part of the “How to Build a Garage” time lapse video series which can be seen here hands.onthis.net. All my videos are done in 1080p HD 30fps. Edited with Final Cut Pro X, and Either Aperture 3 or Lightroom 3. Shot with either the GoPro Hero or Hero2 HD wide or the Nikon D5100, with the 35mm f or my Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. It is pretty clear that 99% of your work is done on your own. That is a challenge technically and I have noticed it repeatedly in your video that things go? up get attached and move on when I am used to seeing such things with a crew of several people. I have become sensitized to this circumstance since 90% of what I do is solo. Hence, when I see your good idea, I steal it. I would also note that for me, doing things on my own is not as “fun” as doing it with someone who helps the psychology.

@michaelalanlee I’m really liking your comments! You’re right though, most of these things are just in the moment, I need that side to stay there while I do this…how am I going to do this… I’m a vermonter and it’s something we like to pride ourselves on is “yankee ingenuity” but I’ve seen this sort of craftiness from australia to the UK on youtube. The help I get is all documented in the videos by the way. Every time someone steps into the frame thats? when I got help. Pretty rare! :)

I realize that you get a little help with this now and again, but the little tricks that you use (like strapping up one end of the board? while putting up the other) to accomplish a two person task, when you are only one person, are really clever. I am sure some of these tricks are widely known but I think many of them you improvised yourself. I think that one of the main inhibitions to taking on larger projects is the problem of dealing with situations where you really need a third hand.
